Ghouls Rule

Back in January, my mum asked me to teach her how to knit socks toe up.
We picked yarn, and started.  I showed her how to cast on and work her way up the toes, and by the end of our coffee date, she was set to work on the foot.

I finished the first sock February 1st, but I've done very little with them since.  This was the first pair of sock I used the Fish Lips Kiss Heel on, and loved how the first sock fit.

Today, I finally got around to completing the pair!

Why Ghouls Rule?
I was watching the Monster High Ghouls Rule movie while knitting the first sock, and the colourway reminded me of so many of the characters I had to dub these socks as “Ghouls Rule” socks.

Agatha and Chuck

Agatha is a cropped lacey sweater, and if I had of used a nicer yarn, I likely would have finished it much faster.

These pictures aren't the best, but you can see some of the lace details - yet another project needing proper photos.

Once I finished Agatha - a sweater I started back in March and didn't end up finishing until the beginning of this month, I felt like knitting a full length sweater.

As some of you may know, I have a bit of a thing for Chuck.  (This past year I made not one, but two!
Both need proper FO pictures, although it seems like most of mine do - I need to get myself a proper dslr!) Chuck, however, is a cropped sweater, like Agatha.  I decided when I made my last Chuck that at some point I would figure out the shaping to make myself one in full length.  I picked up the yarn back in May, a lovely silver-grey colour and incredibly soft, and cast on August 4th.  After some shaping and length, it turned out quite well!

I have a feeling Chuck will pop up quite a few more times, in different colours and different lengths - I'm already thinking of another full length in red sparkle yarn for xmas holidays.

A month snuggley knits.

Somehow July ended up being a month full of toys.

A Voodoo for someone who requested it.

A Wasabi made from handspun yarn.

A Rollie for my Grandma's 75th birthday

An Octopus for my dad's birthday

And although it was knit yesterday rather than July, I'm including it in this post - Cal & Mari!

Knits Of June

I haven't done much knitting this month, in fact only two projects.

Over on Instagram, my feed is filled with Rose City Rollers socks - and who can blame them? These socks are adorable, and look great in so many different colour variations.
Of course I had to knit my own! However, I've been on a bit of a toe-up kick ever since I bought the Fish Lips Kiss Heel pattern, it just makes it so easy! I modified the pattern slightly to be toe up and changed out the flk heel - they fit perfectly and are super comfortable!

I'm likely going to make a few more pairs, perhaps even some without modifications - though I can't say when!

My next project I thought would be a top, and once I found a cotton yarn that wasn't too stiff or harsh, I knew I had to make it.  I give you Gemini - published on Knitty, this top can be worn both forward and backward, depending on the look you want.  I love how quick this can be knit, I cast on June 10th and finished the 17th - although it could probably be done a lot faster! I think this is another pattern I'll be repeating, different colours and perhaps a full sleeve one.

Projects of May

I'm not very good at remembering to update my blog, mostly because I feel like people may not want to see the slow growing process of my many wips - some who get a few rows done here and there, but not enough to really show off, while others sit in the corner until I can find interest in them again.

This month I've managed to finish four projects, so here they are!

I definitely need a better picture, although that likely won't happen until I can wear it this autumn.  This is Vixen, a quick knit with some lovely details.  I cast on May 2nd, and finished the 12th, but there was a lot of down time with this, I feel I could knit it again (and just might in another colour) and much quicker!

This Black Death was another quick knit, intended for my mum for Mother's Day, however I somehow forgot it when I went to visit her - perhaps I'll keep it for another occasion. Started May 4th and finished the 7th.

Black Forest is an adorable hat that knits up in no time, looks great in numerous colours and is rather easy to knit.  Definitely a must for beginner knitters looking for a little extra flare without being too complicated. (May 16-17).

The man-beast's birthday is in October, so I figured I should knit a little something to make sure he'd have something.  Originally when he gave me a few balls of different yarns, he'd said he wouldn't mind a stst scarf in the same colour as the pictures below.  Well, I couldn't bring myself to knit something so boring, instead I knit him the Wombat scarf/shawl.  I never see him in scarves, so I figured this was a quick alternative, so he can throw it on during winter breaks and still be warm with minimal effort. A very quick knit, I did this on May 22nd.

Summer Beach Top

A few days ago I cast on Villeneuve.
I finished today, however I definitely need some better pictures!
This is pre-blocking, after blocking to looked much better, and looks best on a person - it may be a while before I can get a proper picture!
